Mr Edwin Low is a Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (MIFireE), UK, and an Associate Member (ASIArb) of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He has more than twenty years of experience investigating numerous fires, explosions, electrical failure incidents and personal injury incidents.

Electrical investigations of Generators & Transformers 

• A failure at the windings of a 500/23kV 685MVA oil-filled generator step-up unit transformer
• A failure at the windings of a newly commissioned 345/18.05kV 650MVA oil-filled generator transformer that led to internal flashover arcing, upon a synchronisation when it was being connected to the electrical grid
• Severe electrical arcing at the tap changer of a 528/18kV 470MVA oil-filled generator transformer 
• An electrical flashover and fire in an oil immersed 230kV cable junction box of a 230/66kV 200MVA oil-filled power transformer
• A failure at the windings of a 150/16.5kV  319MVA oil-filled generator transformer
• Stator winding failure at a steam turbine 13kV  190MVA generator
• Simultaneous failures at a set of combined cycle gas & diesel turbine 11.5kV 142kVA hydrogen-cooled generator and a 150/11.5kV 105/140kVA oil-filled generator step-up transformer

• Electrical flashover arcing in the metal housing of a 170kV GIS potential transformer (GIS PT)
• Short-circuit fault at a 66kV GIS double busbar system in a power substation

Air Insulated Switchgear

• Electrical flashover arcing at a 22kV switchgear truck
• Electrical flashover arcing at the terminals of a 22kV TIE Panel
• A failure at a 22kV electric signboard
